My name is Cheryl Cayemberg. I decided to begin this blog because I was so sick and tired of hearing "friends" lob biblical verse like grenades at people who hold different viewpoints. How do you attempt to reason with people that have already determined that you are wrong? You can't. You can, however, put on a flackjacket of knowledge and actually pick up the Old Testament and read it so you can protect yourself from ignorant attack.
As a Roman Catholic who grew up in the 1970s and 80s, I can tell you that I was poorly educated as far as religion goes. That wasn't my CCD teacher's fault either (which is a good thing since my CCD teacher was my mom!). If you are Catholic, your priest will be the first to tell you that due to changes the Catholic Church was going through at the time that many of its children were not given the knowledge they should have been. So unless you actually went to Catholic school in my generation, you probably sit around half the time unable to answer the "whys" to your faith. I know for me it hindered me and my ability to defend my faith when attacked by others.
